This initiative significantly impacted the local community by addressing gender-based violence (GBV), enhancing women’s economic empowerment, and increasing their political participation. Key activities included community sensitization, capacity-building workshops, and the establishment of safe spaces for women and girls. These efforts reached over 500,000 individuals, including women, girls, men, and boys, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for gender equality. The project worked with 8 women-led networks, including FOMWAN, WRAPA, MWAN, KIND, WOFAN, WINN, NNEW, and WCCI, granting a total of 291M to support their initiatives.
The project’s achievements in Kebbi State are notable, with significant strides in reducing GBV incidents and increasing awareness about women’s rights. The establishment of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) empowered women economically, allowing them to start and expand their businesses.
