In Nigeria, deeply rooted societal norms, harmful practices, and escalating conflicts continue to hinder the health, empowerment, and rights of women and girls. From the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS and maternal mortality in Kebbi to the persistent practice of Female Genital Mutilation in Enugu, urgent interventions are needed. The Women’s Voice & Leadership-Nigeria (WVL-Nigeria) project has been instrumental in tackling these challenges through partnerships with local organizations to promote sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), empower smallholder women farmers amid rising insecurity, and advocate for the social inclusion of elderly women in communities like Itedo, Lagos. By fostering peace, security, and socio-economic inclusion, the WVL-Nigeria project is driving transformative change across diverse sectors and ensuring that women, including the elderly, are not left behind.
