International Women’s Day 2023

Happy International Women’s Day 2023!This year’s theme is DigitAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality, and we’re here to celebrate the incredible achievements of women around the world. Let’s look at how technology has been used to advance gender equality and how it can continue to do so in the future.

Technology has been used to create platforms and resources that can help promote gender equality. For example, online networks, such as web platforms and social media, have been used to encourage conversations, collaboration, and support amongst women. This can help create an inclusive and diverse environment where women can share their experiences, ideas, and opinions. This can also help create more opportunities in the workplace and the wider world.

In addition, technology can help promote gender equality by making it easier to access resources and information. This can include education and training materials, as well as resources that are designed specifically for women. This can help to remove barriers and provide more opportunities for women to reach their full potential.

As digital technologies become more sophisticated, so does technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV).

TFGBV is a modern form of gender-based violence that utilizes digital technologies to cause harms. Online or technology-facilitated gender-based violence is a form of gender injustice and discrimination that takes place in online spaces. This type of GBV can include stalking, harassment, bullying, and unsolicited pornography, among other actions.

We must also recognize the potential of technology to be used to promote gender inequality. For example, discrimination in the workplace can be exacerbated by algorithms that are biased against women. To help prevent this, organizations should strive to create algorithms and technologies that are equitable and unbiased.

Ultimately, technology has the power to lead to a more equal and just world for women. As we enter International Women’s Day 2023, let’s take a moment to celebrate the incredible women who have used technology to create change and look forward to how we can use technology to help create a brighter future for everyone.
