Violence against women and girls is real! Every day, women and girls endure different forms of violence and discriminations within the society, irrespective of their status and location. The effect of gender-based violence is enormous and devastating, sometimes immediate and at other times long term.
Addressing violence against women and girls requires strategic and deliberate approaches. Men and boys are critical actors in this. They play different roles – from negative to positive – perpetrators, enablers and sustainers of social norms that exacerbate violence against women and girls, and most importantly they can be agent of social change – champions of women and girl’s rights, especially at the community level.
