Multi-Year Granting

This is a 5-year predictable funding arrangement aimed at supporting the core mandates of 100 Local Women’s Rights Organizations (LWROs) and Networks at the state and national levels, and Community Based Organizations at the community level. This provision allows beneficiary organizations to continue implementation of either an on-going intervention or new interventions in the Women’s Rights space.

The selection process for beneficiaries of this funding commenced with the mapping of women’s rights organizations to provide a database as a starting point for engagement, This was followed by an open call for local women’s rights organizations to apply for funding through a simple Expression of Interest process. After a thorough assessment of submitted applications which included a background check and a Partnership Assessment and Monitoring Exercise, 18 Women’s Rights Organizations and 10 Women’s Rights Networks were selected for granting.

These partners, selected from 6 states and the FCT, were the first set of grantees for the WVL-N project.

This first level of granting was followed by the selection and granting of 72 community-based organizations for community level program implementation. To ensure a geo-political balance within the states, the 72 CBOs were drawn from the three senatorial zones of each project states. Considering the number of the CBOs and to also allow for sub-granting capacities of state level project partners, one partner with demonstrable capacity for grant management was given the responsibility of managing the granting process of 12 CBOs in each state. This brings the total number of project partners on the multi-year grant to 100 at the National, State, and Community levels.
