ADVOCATING A MODEL FOR MANAGING AND PREVENTING SEXUAL AND GENDER BASED VIOLENCE (SGBV) AGAINST WOMEN AND GRILS IN NIGERIA: AN OVERVIEW OF THE ACTIVITIES OFWOMENAIDCOLLECTIVE (WACOL) WITH ITS STRATEGIC PARTNERS

 

 

 

WACOL / TAMAR SARC employ international best practices in responding to the needs of women and girls who are victims of sexual violence. In addition, WACOL has in the past  through  its funding partners facilitated   a lot of ground breaking activities to respond proactively  to issues of Sexual and Gender Based Violence some of which  include; the domestic implementation of human rights, women’s rights and children’s rights project that trained hundreds of law  enforcement agents- Police, Civil Defence, Prosecutors, Magistrates and High Court Judges in three States: Abia, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra ,Ebonyi and  Imo Statesand other administrators of justice on judicial application of human rights standards, especially of relevance to women and children in Nigeria. The organisation also Pioneered paralegal trainings in Nigeria, rule of law initiatives with focus on gender justice for womenand importantly the recent Police Conference training held on September17th 2020 at Dannic Hotel, New Haven Enugu.
