WVL Nigeria Testimonials

Emediong Akpan

I am Emediong Akpan, a proud beneficiary of CCAPI's empowerment scheme under the WVL project. In the year 2021, I successfully graduated from CCAPI's Skill Acquisition center as a Fashion/Designer. As part of this program, I was generously provided with a sewing machine upon completing my training, which greatly enhanced my skills in tailoring and fashion design. Thanks to my acquired competence, I was able to secure a rewarding tailoring job at Utibe Abasi Nursery and Primary School in Calabar. In this role, I have the privilege of creating school uniforms for the pupils, ensuring they are dressed impeccably. I am truly grateful to CCAPI, Actionaid Nigeria, and Global Affairs Canada for their unwavering support and investment in my journey. Once again, I extend my deepest appreciation to CCAPI, Actionaid Nigeria, and Global Affairs Canada for their invaluable contribution to my growth and success.

Danielle James

My name is Danielle James, and I am a 17-year-old native of Akpabuyo LGA in Cross River state, Nigeria. In 2020, I completed my secondary education at Government Girls Secondary School in Big Qua Town, Calabar. While awaiting admission into the university, I seized the opportunity to enroll in CCAPI's skill acquisition center at the Women Development Center in Calabar. It was there that I developed my skills in Graphic Design and Fashion Design. These newfound abilities have provided me with invaluable insights into the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in various aspects of life. Now, I am proficient in designing fliers, newsletters, book covers, banners, and more. However, what excites me the most is my ability to virtually design diverse clothing styles for my customers before bringing them to life through sewing. Through earning money from my design work, I have been saving diligently with the aim of acquiring the necessary equipment to launch my own graphic and fashion design business. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to God Almighty, CCAPI, Actionaid Nigeria, and Global Affairs Canada for their support and assistance in my journey.
