Factsheet on Amplifying the Voices of Women and Girls with Disabilities Against Sexual & Gender-Based Violence

Women and Girls with Disabilities represent one of the most marginalized and vulnerable groups in Nigeria. In spite of the increased awareness about the rights of women, laws protecting women and girls from violence and several interventions to tackle cases of gender-based violence affecting women and girls with disabilities, these initiatives have not translated to positive and genuine impact experienced by women with disabilities, who still face marginalization due to their gender and their disability condition. WRAHP at the end of her Project “Amplifying the voices of women and girls with Disabilities (WGDs) survivors against SGBV in Ebonyi and Lagos states.’’ In February 2023 with support from the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) produced and distributed 2000 copies of her Factsheet to support public engagement with key influencers and demand improved justice services for all cases of SGBV affecting women and girls with disabilities.
