About the Fund
ActionAid Nigeria (AAN), with funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership (RWVL) Nigeria Project, is calling for Expressions of Interest for the Critical Intervention Fund under its Strategic Opportunity Funding (SOF) grants.
The Strategic Opportunity Fund is a fast, responsive fund designed to give women’s rights organizations, networks, and movements the opportunity to implement impactful short-term projects that positively affect women and girls. The fund enables timely action to protect women and girls’ rights, sustain advocacy efforts, and address emerging gender-related challenges in crisis contexts.
What the Fund Supports
The Critical Intervention Fund supports short-term advocacy or strategic opportunities that can influence policy change, amplify women’s voices, or strengthen women’s movement-building efforts.
Who Can Apply
This call is open to all women-led organizations, networks, and movements in Nigeria.
We particularly want to hear from applicants working with or advocating for structurally excluded groups, including:
- Women and girls with disabilities
- Women and girls in conflict
- Women and girls on the move and returnees
- Female sex workers
- Female inmates
- Survivors of gender-based violence
- Out-of-school girls
- Elderly women
- Women in politics
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be a women’s rights organization, network, or movement working on women and girls’ rights
- Be women-led and operating in Nigeria
- Propose an intervention that is strategic, time-sensitive, and impactful for women and girls
- Demonstrate how the intervention will advance gender equality, gender justice, and systemic change, and complement existing efforts
- Have the capacity to implement within a short timeframe and achieve measurable impact
Grant Amount
Each grant is for a maximum of NGN 6,000,000.00 (Six Million Naira only).
