Background
ActionAid Nigeria (AAN), in partnership with Global Affairs Canada (GAC), through the Renewed Women’s Rights and Leadership (RWVL) Project, is pleased to announce a Call for Expression of Interest (EOI) for Strategic Opportunity Funding (SOF) to support advocacy interventions aimed at influencing the passage of the ongoing Special Seats Bill for Women in Nigeria.
This funding opportunity is designed to support strategic, time-sensitive, and high-impact interventions that will contribute to the successful passage of the Bill before the scheduled vote in November 2025.
Funding Information

Single Organizations: Up to ₦5,000,000
-
Consortiums (2–4 organizations): Up to ₦20,000,000
Consortiums must clearly outline each partner’s role and budget percentage, with the lead organization managing not more than 30% of the total grant amount.
Eligibility Criteria
Interested organizations must:
-
Be a women-led organization, network, or movement operating in Nigeria.

Be actively engaged in advocacy around women’s political participation, representation, or the Special Seats Bill.

Propose an intervention that is strategic, time-sensitive, and impactful in influencing the Bill’s passage.

Demonstrate how the intervention will bridge existing advocacy and policy-influencing gaps on the Special Seats Bill.

Show how the proposed action will complement existing advocacy efforts undertaken by women’s groups, CSOs, and development partners.

Demonstrate the capacity to implement within a short timeframe and achieve measurable impact.

Have a financial and reporting system in place to support proper grant management.
Priority Will Be Given To
-
Women’s rights organizations, networks, or movements currently working on the Special Seats Bill.

Organizations with a track record of mobilizing women’s rights movements and networks for advocacy.

WROs and networks promoting women’s participation in leadership and decision-making spaces.
-
WROs and networks advocating inclusivity, particularly for young women, rural women, and women with disabilities.
Submission Guidelines
Interested organizations should submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) including:

Organizational profile and relevant experience.

Description of the proposed intervention.

Implementation timeline and expected outcomes.

Detailed budget.
-
Evidence of financial and reporting systems.
