SUMMARY:Feminist Academy on Economic Justice & Accountability Training
DESCRIPTION:The Feminist Academy on Economic Justice & Accountability is a political education and action-oriented learning program designed for young women across Nigeria who want to understand how economic systems\, public policies\, and global financial structures shape their daily realities and communities. The academy moves beyond theory by combining collective learning\, practical analysis\, group work\, storytelling\, and advocacy-based engagement. Participants will critically examine the relationship between gender\, governance\, public finance\, debt\, austerity\, and accountability while building practical tools for civic engagement and feminist organizing. The program is designed to strengthen young women’s understanding of economic justice and support their ability to engage public systems\, question policy decisions\, and contribute to community-based advocacy and accountability processes. \nTraining Objectives / Key Learning Areas Participants will: \n1. Build a Feminist Political Economy Lens Develop an understanding of how gender\, power\, labor\, and economic systems intersect and shape women’s lives. \n2. Engage Macroeconomic Policy & Power Understand key economic concepts such as inflation\, exchange rates\, and economic growth\, and use them to interpret Nigeria’s current economic realities. Participants will also critically examine institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank\, including the impact of neoliberal economic policies. \n3. Track and Analyze Nigeria’s Budget & Fiscal Decisions Learn how public budgets work\, how resources are allocated\, and how fiscal decisions affect communities and public services. \n4. Interrogate Public Debt\, Austerity & Subsidy Policies Collectively examine economic reforms and policies and assess their social and gendered impacts on women and communities. \n5. Apply Debt Auditing & Accountability Tools Gain practical tools for tracking public debt and questioning economic decisions made by governments and institutions. \n6. Document Unpaid Care Work in Real Contexts Use practical tools and exercises to identify and reflect on unpaid care labor within households and communities. \n7. Design and Implement Advocacy Actions Translate learning into action through storytelling\, campaigns\, policy engagement\, and community-based advocacy initiatives developed throughout the program. \n\n\n \n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n
